The siphon action of the water flowing out will draw the gravel halfway up the large plastic barrel. As the gravel is suspended and agitated, accumulated debris and waste are pulled off. Fast, efficient and effective. The medium size siphon is appropriate for tanks up to 20 gallons. For larger tanks, the large model is the best choice.
