Diffusion of Gases: A Kinetic Energy Demonstration—ChemTopic™ Lab Activity

firewatch

The temperature of a gas is a measure of the gas particles’ average kinetic energy, which depends on mass and velocity. A small car traveling down the highway next to a large truck must travel faster to have the same kinetic energy as the truck. This analogy can be used in the Diffusion of Gases: A Kinetic Energy Demonstration—ChemTopic™ Lab Activity, to compare the motion of gas particles in different gases at the same temperature.
