PAVO Bundle: Population Growth

This PAVO bundle introduces students to the topic of population growth through four synchronous activities. Three of these are hands-on interactive lab experiments. This bundle also features an additional activity, POGIL Population Growth, which guides students to recognize the various factors and variables that can affect population size and growth. Students also learn how mathematical models can be used to estimate the size of populations and how they change over time. Hands-on lab experiments help students gain firsthand experience using the tag/recapture method of counting a population. Students will also nurture and experiment with living duckweed plants, and use a card game to stimulate the growth of a frog population in a local pond under natural and human-influenced situations. The other activity can be done synchronously or asynchronously and requires no equipment. This activity features laboratory videos of real phenomena that help students understand the real-world applications of knowledge regarding population growth. Ultimately, this PAVO bundle provides all of the tools necessary to help students gain a better understanding of population growth.
