In this PAVO bundle, students are introduced to the study of stoichiometry through synchronous activities. Three of these are hands-on lab experiments. The first activity can be done synchronously or asynchronously, and requires no extra materials or supplies. In this activity, students watch laboratory videos of real phenomena relative to stoichiometry and its applications in everyday life. Self-grading helps to track student progress for this activity. In the hands-on lab experiments, students learn to perform stoichiometric calculations and carry out chemical reactions. They will better understand molar ratios, including limiting and excess reactants. Students perform stoichiometric calculations to combine reactants in the correct molar ratios to produce an assigned amount of product. One additional activity, POGIL Mole Ratios, helps guide students as they analyze models. The goal is to better understand how the mole ratios in balanced chemical equations follow the law of conservation of mass. The activities of this PAVO bundle serve to enhance student knowledge regarding stoichiometry in a fun, engaging, and interactive way that produces results.
